The Datura Press | Modern Gothic Fiction, Mythic Storytelling & The Datura Tapes

The Datura Press is a Florence-based literary imprint for the haunted, the myth-minded, and the beautifully strange.

We publish experimental gothic fiction, modern myths, and dark, character-driven worlds that are built to linger.

The Datura Press — The Books

A tarot card titled "Narcisa Before Narcisa" featuring a young woman in a black Victorian dress, holding a scale, standing beside a large wolf with a thick fur coat, surrounded by intricate decorative patterns and a dark, tree-lined background.

There once was a girl

Your new gothic heroine

A teenage witch. A crumbling empire. A story told like a secret — and never the same way twice.

Enter Narcisa’s World

Narcisa Before Narcisa

Black and white photograph of a person's face wearing a cowboy hat, with visible cracks and a textured surface.

Walker Awake

An unnerving slice of Americana.

A slow-burn detonation of paranoia, violence, and surreal revelation in an America that never quite existed.

Walk Into The Dream

A stylized drawing of a woman with her hair obscuring her face, and the hashtag #FEERSUMHANDMAIDEN written at the bottom.

An uncanny detective of the occult.

A civil servant discovers that a series of “novels” are in fact case files, and Professor Marble is real — along with the monsters he hunts.

The Death at the Door

Black woman with braided hair and hoop earrings wearing an oversized T-shirt with "the natura tapes" text, standing against a plain background.

The Datura Tapes /

the truth, forty eight thousand times a second

The Datura Tapes is our audio wing: an evolving archive of ambient scores, studio mythologies, and transmissions from the wider Datura universe.

From the ASMR vibes from the deepest reaches of our books to the bleeding-edge beats of production team DarkStylus broadcasting from their DarkArc studio in the heart of Florence, there’s always a signal being broadcast out there somewhere.

Etta Vale

DarkArc010

Etta’s first release is a heartbreaking note on addiction and tragedy, where a whole life]s worth of lost choices arrives at a single decisive moment on a strangers kitchen floor.

Acoustic and minimal, Etta’s sweet but powerful voice add a huge emotional punch to a bleak but beautiful poem about the fragility who we are and the resignation ‘losers’ like Etta feel about love and life.

Please be aware that this song deals with subjects such as suicide and addiction. If these are difficult subjects for you, please take care when listening.

“To the place all us losers go when there’s simply no more luck”
